MISHAWAKA - Our loving mother and grandmother, Lucy Blanda-Kaplachinski, 98, of Mishawaka, IN died peacefully Sunday, September 25, 2016 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Lucy was born on May 14, 1918 in Mishawaka to Pasquale and Anna Digirolamo. She married Bernard Blanda in 1946. She then married Raymond Kaplachinski on August 14, 1976 who preceded her in death in 1993. Mom was the last living sibling from her family. She was preceded in death by sisters, Vie, Annie, Angie, and Josephine, and one brother, Joe. Our mom and grandmother will be greatly missed by family and friends as she touched the heart of all those she met and brought blessings to us all. She is survived by three sons, Carmelo (Mary) Blanda and Bernie (Kathy) Blanda of Mishawaka, and Patrick (Penny) Blanda of Osceola; grandchildren: Heather (Tony) Nania; Julie, Brian, Jeff (Ally), and Katie Blanda; Brianne (Jeremie) Adams and Scott (Christine) Blanda; 13 great- grandchildren, Guiseppe, Addison, Gavin, Brenna, Mariah, Isaac, Tommy, Heidi, Kyler, Kailyn, Kayden, Hunter, and Carissa; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews as well. Our mom enjoyed her lunches and dinners out with her many friends, neighbors, and classmates from school as well as the many wonderful people she worked with. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 3 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Bavo Church in Mishawaka. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to either Mishawaka Catholic School Tuition Assistance (St. Bavo), 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544; or Hospice Foundation Supporting Center for Hospice Care: South Bend-Elkhart-Plymouth, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
