SOUTH BEND, IN - Joseph F. Palkowitch Sr. passed away at 3:50pm Monday, November 12, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. Joseph was born on October 16, 1931 in South Bend to Mahias “Matthew” and Leopoldina “Goldie” (Andert) Palkowitch. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and retired from AEP in 1980 after 27 years of service. On July 21, 1959 he married the former Audrey Driebelbis who survives along with 4 daughters, Debra McIntyre of Buchanan, MI, Penny Burnham of South Bend, Audrey (Chris) Guzowski of Merritt Island, FL, and Dina (Stacy) Nicodemus of South Bend; a son, Joseph (Debra) Palkowitch Jr. of Granger; 8 grandchildren, Kris, Justin, Jeremy, Nichole, Ashley, Shelly, Joseph III, and Heather; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret T. Horvath and Mary Stanley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, November 16, 2018 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 5-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.
