Edna Metzler

GOSHEN -- Edna D. Metzler, 80, of 61112 S.R. 15 N., died at 11 p.m. Saturday (April 2, 2005) at her home after a nine-month illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Daniel and Katie (Miller) Borntrager. She married James R. Metzler May 14, 1971, in Goshen.

He survives with one son, Gary (Karen) Kauffman of DeRidder, La.; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Jim) Piechorowski and Cindy (David) Huser, both of Elkhart; and one sister, Mary Reesor of Ontario, Canada.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lydia Pruess, Ida Mae Wood and Elizabeth Coblentz; and two brothers, Rudolph and Samuel Bontrager.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Brethren Church, 215 W. Clinton St., Goshen. Pastor John Drexler will officiate. Burial will be in West Olive Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at yoderculpfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Metzler had worked at Johnson Controls in Goshen for 32 years. She was a member of the First Brethren Church and enjoyed gardening.

Memorials may be given to the Goshen Hospital Hospice program.
