EDWARDSBURG, MI - Richard Heyde, 83, passed away on Monday, December 17 at the Center for Hospice Care, South Bend. Richard was born on February 24, 1935 in Mishawaka to Alphonse and Susanna (VanDeWalle) Heyde. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Heyde Moore; son, Richard Jr.; and sister, Helen Hahaj. Surviving are his wife, Iris Cain; daughters, Linda Susanne (Ernie) Barnaby of South Bend and Leslie Wilk of South Bend; son, Gregory Allen (Jill) Heyde of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Ryan Heyde, Adam (Nicole Garbuzoiv) Heyde, Phillip (Amanda Elliott) Heyde, Christine (Drew) Moore, Sean, Daniel, Bryan, and Tyler Moore, Michael and Susan Derda; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Herb Avery. Richard worked as a Machinist for Bendix and Gast in Benton Harbor. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and Navy. Richard was a member of Our Lady of the Lake, DeAmici's, Elkhart Moose #599, VFW Post 1855, American Legion Post 26 in Niles, Knights of Columbus, and was a lifetime member of BK Club. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. with Memorial Service at 3 p.m., in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, with Military Rites by VFW Post 360/American Legion 161 Burial Team.
