On June 17, 1873, Rev. D. J. Spillard, C.S.C., pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Stanislaus Lewinski and Frances Makielski.

Their children included (in birth order): Severyn, two daughters, a son, Josephine, Sophia, Helen, Matt R.

South Bend Weekly Times, Tues., June 23, 1908, p. 5:
"Mrs. Francisca Lewinski, wife of Stanislaus Lewinski, residing at 1315 Linden avenue, died Thursday evening, after a short illness from diabetes, aged 53 years. Besides her husband, she leaves several children and numerous relatives to mourn her death. The funeral was held Monday and interment following at Cedar Grove cemetery."
