MISHAWAKA - Richard "Dick" B. Kizer, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 1st, in Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. Dick was born on March 17, 1929, in Mishawaka, as the son of Earl and Charlotte (Buchwald) Kizer. On May 7, 1955, in Mishawaka, he married the former Yolanda Cerri; after 41 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on October 31, 1996. Dick is survived by his loving daughter, Lori Ann Kizer of Mishawaka; brothers, Norman (Darlene) Kizer, Jerry (Marcia) Kizer and Lanny (Sherry) Kizer, all of Mishawaka; a sister-in-law, Joey Kizer of Warsaw, IN; and his "Breakfast Buddy," Gayle; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Schalliol, Betty Morris, Joan Klug, Nancy Kizer and Maxine Bendit; and brothers, Jack Kizer, Robert Kizer, and James Kizer. Dick was a 1946 graduate of Mishawaka High School; after graduation he proudly served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. Upon his return to the area he was employed by Morris Park Country Club and the Former Drewry's Brewery in South Bend. He later was a Technical Draftsman for Bendix in South Bend and Dodge Reliance Corp. in Mishawaka for 20 years before retiring in 1983. He also worked for Mishawaka Utilities in the water department for eight years as a locator, retiring in 1991. Dick was a very community-minded person; he served on the Mishawaka School Board, served as Softball Commissioner in Mishawaka and was a coach for many years; he was the voice of Mishawaka Swimming, a member of the DeAmicis Club in Mishawaka, Club 15 and VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka. Dick was an outgoing person whether on the golf course or about town, always with a smile and a handshake.
