SOUTH BEND - Virginia M. Hegyi, 85, passed away peacefully at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born on February 14, 1923, in Crumstown, Indiana, to the late Leon and Mary (Zebrowski) Lisek. On April 30, 1949, in Holy Family Catholic Church, she married Louis G. Hegyi, who passed away on September 20, 1990. Virginia is survived by her sons, Louis L. Hegyi of Eagan, MN, Gregory R. (Debra) Hegyi of Granger and David A. (Frances) Hegyi of Granger; and four grandchildren, Bradley, Nicholas, Nicole and Sean. Virginia had been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church since it was founded. She loved sports and especially Notre Dame athletics. She enjoyed spending time and playing games with her grandchildren, and keeping in touch with her friends. The family wishes to thank the 4th-floor staff at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for their excellent care. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
