BUCHANAN, MI - Martin Edward “Marty” Skopec, 73, of Buchanan, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021. He was born on September 23, 1946, in Grand Rapids. He grew up in Niles with his parents, Charles and Alta Skopec. Marty served proudly for 25 years for the Buchanan Police Department where he gained a love for guns and shooting. Marty also loved music. He had quite a collection of different genres. On September 19, 1970 he married the love of his life, Nancy Frost. Together they shared a love for camping and fishing. Marty is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, John C. (Angela Pritchard) Skopec; sister, Kay Minick; two grandchildren, Tyler and Rebekka; and great-granddaughter, Oakley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alta; and brother-in-law, Alvin Minick. Funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Visitation will take place two hours prior from 10-12 pm. Burial will follow at Sumnerville Cemetery, Pokagon Twp.
