NILES - Frances Lucille Matthews Medders, 87, of Niles passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Chalet of Niles. She was born November 5, 1928 in Culver, IN to the late Elmer “Jack” and Glenna (Kessinler) Matthews. In 1950 she married Alkiviadis “Babe” Caparell, he died in 1955. In 1959 she married Robert Blacketter, he died in 1969. In 1971 she married William H. Medders. Also preceding her in death is a son, Sam Caparell in 1997 and two sisters, Jean Walesivich, Velma “Red” Schillind, brother William “Bill” Matthews and grandson Scott Sarratore. She is survived by her Husband William Medders, they were married for 45 years. She is also survived by three daughters, Lynette (Michael) Wright, Stacey (Frank) Sarratore and Lou Ann Caparell, son, Jeffery (Maryann) Blacketter, eight grandchildren, Bradley (Patty) Hickerson, Douglas (Kris) Sarratore, Jeremy Watkins, Brandy Watkins, Shantanna Watkins, Shay Watkins, Tiffany Davidson, Adam (Erin) Blacketter and fifteen great grandchildren. Fran was a stay at home mom, taking special care of her son Sammy. She looked forward to the holidays so everyone could get together and talk and do whatever. She enjoyed Wednesday and Saturday night bowling, going out for a sandwich afterwards and to their house for cards or dice games. Graveside services for Fran will be held at 12 pm on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in the committal Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm also at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in the committal chapel. A special thanks to Hospice at Home and the Chalet of Niles nursing home.
