Hendrick J. "Hank" DeValk, age 82, of Osceola, passed away at Fountainview Place Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Hank was born January 3, 1928 in New York. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty DeValk, in July of 2001 after 55 years of marriage. On June 29, 2002, Hank married Emma Wortley Rajski in Osceola.Emma (Rajski) DeValk of Osceola survives, along with Hank''s three children; Jack (Judy) DeValk of Connecticut, Jay (Gwynn) DeValk of Alabama, and Diana (Dennis) McKenna of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. Surviving as well are two step-sons; Trent (Lanette) Rajski of Osceola, and Jeff (Andrea) Rajski of Mishawaka and four step-grandchildren. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and a step-son, Barry Rajski.Calling will be held one hour prior to the 10:00 am Memorial Service on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana.Hank served his country as a U.S. Marine following World War II. He was employed for many years with the New York Telephone Company, first as a technician in the field, and then as the Head of Engineering prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing tennis, and did so, well into his late 70''s. Hank spent his winters in Naples, Florida since 1984, and enjoyed boating, fishing and many other water sports. In his younger years, he raised and trained Beagles for show and hunting.
