SOUTH BEND - Chester W. "Moose" Antkowiak, 90, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010, in the Milton Home after a brief illness. Chester was born on December 24, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Joe and Rose (Ratajska) Antkowiak. He was one of five children including Walter, Stanley, Edward and Clara (Niedbalski) who all preceded him in death. On November 4, 1939, he married Eleanor S. (Winnicki), who passed on November 27, 2001. He is survived by two sons, Jeffery and Victor; daughter-in-law, Rose Ann Antkowiak; two grandchildren, Dillion and Natasha (Klipich); and by his two great-granddaughters, Jordan Klipich and Jocelyn Rustman. Chester enjoyed bowling and fishing, and was an avid White Sox and Notre Dame fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He honorably served in the United States Army during WW II in the Philippines. Chester retired from Bendix after 39 years. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Cremation will take place with burial St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be made to www.sjfh.net.
