Sister M. Francella CSC, 84, of Saint Mayr’s Convent died at 7:30 a.m today in St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. Born Frances Barbara Borkowska in South Bend on March 8, 1896, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Jan. 4, 1913. She was received as a novice on July 16, 1913 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1915. During her service she taught in schools conducted by the Sister of Holy Cross, including the former St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Hedwig, and St. Joseph High School in South Bend, as well as other schools throughout Indiana. She resided in St. Mary’s Convent, since 1977, coming from Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in the South Bend-Mishawaka area. South Bend Tribune 3/26/1980.Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call today and Thursday and until time of services in the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be observed at 7 p.m. Thursday.
