SOUTH BEND - Dorothy M. Chippas, 98, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, in her home. She was born on January 20, 1916, in Glendale, PA, to the late Robert and Anna (Loibl) Shearer. On February 15, 1936, she married Anthony J. Chippas, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1968. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Gerald M. (Kathleen) of Columbus, OH, Ralph A. of South Bend and Michael A. of Plymouth, IN; five grandchildren, Michelle (Glenn Prtichard) Chippas, Laura (William) Boreman, Eric (Tracey) Chippas and Tyler and Sam Chippas; two step-grandchildren, Erik and Tony Christiansen; and by four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ethan and Ellie Chippas and Becky Krauss. She was employed in the Warren City School System from 1968-1986. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday July 30, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Friday August 1, 2014, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warren, OH, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in All Soul's Cemetery, Warren, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer or Dementia services of St. Joseph County.
