ELKHART - Charlotte Elizabeth Thoma, 75, of Elkhart, IN, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Hospice House in Elkhart. She was born on December 1, 1939, in South Bend, IN, to the late Wilbur and Margaret (Ott) Simpson. She was united in marriage on February 1, 1958 in South Bend, IN, to John Michael Thoma, Sr. who survives. Mrs. Thoma is survived by four sons, John Michael (Mary) Thoma, Jr. of Granger, IN, Michael (Elsie) Thoma of Lafayette, IN, Kenneth (Amy Holzhausen) Thoma of Austin, TX, and David (Dana) Thoma of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Michael (Leah), Paul, Jacob, Ryan and Eric Thoma and one great-grandson, Maddux; her sisters, Laura (Bill) Borsodi of Yorkville, IL and Margaret (Gary) Cribbs of South Bend, IN and brother, Don Simpson of Bristol, WV. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Simpson. She was a wonderful mother to her four sons and a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 58 years. She enjoyed being a homemaker for her family in her younger years. In addition, she worked as an administrative assistant to the President at WNIT. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior at the funeral home.
