[N4172] Jack S. Egierski

SOUTH BEND - Jack S. Egierski, 69, of South Bend, Indiana, returned to be with the Lord on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Jack was born on May 7, 1946, to the late Walter and Irene Egierski (Grzesiak) in South Bend, Indiana. Jack was a lifelong resident of the area. Surviving Jack is his loving wife, Anita (Edwards), whom he married on September 25, 1965. Jack is survived by one daughter, Deana Grounds (Eric) of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, and two sons, Mark Egierski (Christine) of Plymouth, Indiana, and Philip Egierski (Meghan) of South Bend, Indiana. Jack is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Eric Grounds II, Gage Egierski, Seth Grounds, Jacob Grounds, Alyssa Egierski, Colin Grounds, Meghan Egierski, Nolan Grounds, Sarah Egierski, Jared Grounds, Noah Egierski, Abram Egierski, Lillian Egierski, and many beloved extended family members. Jack is also survived by two brothers, Walter Egierski (Caroline) of South Bend, and Robert Egierski (Nancy) of Granger. Per Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 10 - 11 am, with a memorial service to follow at 11 am on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN 46628. Jack was a man who loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed spending every morning reading his Bible, praying for his family, and praying for others that the Lord had brought to his mind. During the summer, you would always find him raising vegetables in his garden, tinkering in his workshop, or working on various projects around his house and yard. After retiring from the Sheet Metal Workers Local #20, Jack found relaxation by traveling to places like Florida, and wouldn't stop talking about how much he enjoyed his recent family cruise to the Caribbean. He was also a veteran, proudly serving with the United States Army's 9th Infantry Division during the Vietnam war. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's honor to the Hope Ministries Rescue Mission, South Bend. Published in South Bend Tribune on Mar. 27, 2016
