SOUTH BEND - Stella P. O'Donnell, 91, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN. Stella was born in South Bend on May 8, 1917, to the late Michael and Mary (Grzadziela) Ciesielski. On January 27, 1940, in South Bend, she married Homer O'Donnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer; sisters, Bernice Siporski, Valentina Estes and Harriet Adkins; and brothers, Sylvester Ciesielski, Joseph Ciesielski, Vincent Ciesielski and Michael Ciesielski. Surviving Stella are a sister, Frances Ciesielski of South Bend; nieces, Candyce Discavage of South Bend and Kerry (Hartmut Derendorf) Estes of Gainesville, FL; brother-in-law, Bryce Adkins of Utah; nephews, Dan Adkins of Utah and Tom Adkins of Wyoming; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Stella had worked at Bendix for 10 years during the war and loved to garden and crochet. She belonged to the Holiday Rambler Trailer Club from 1969 to 1999 and traveled 48 states, even to Canada. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today, April 19th, 2009, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will also be from 12-12:30 p.m. on Monday prior to the funeral liturgy in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Lite Hospice, 4330 Miami Street, South Bend, IN 46614. For those unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
