GRANGER - James E. “Jim” Jeske, 83, of Granger, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born on July 25, 1932, to Emil and Elizabeth (Degoruts) Jeske. On May 29, 1954, Jim married Nancy Lee Cuquel, who together raised their three children, Laura Ann Culp, Mark E. Jeske (Tina) & Lynn M. Ogren (Hugh). After 42 years of marriage, Nancy passed away in 1998. Also preceding him in death were his parents, and his oldest sibling, Robert E. Jeske. Besides his three children, Jim is also survived by his spouse of fifteen years, Mary Lou (DeVreese) Jeske; his brother, Charles Jeske; and his special sister, Louise Karkiewicz; along with his grandchildren, Bryan Culp, Ben Culp, Aimee Culp, Kaylee Jeske, Karlee Renz (Kerry), Kelly Deeth (Kevin), Paul & Molly Ogren; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Culp. He is also survived by stepchildren, Tim DeVreese, Justin DeVreese, and Sister M. Regina, Terri Szilagy (Frank) and their children, Tyler Spurgeon (Linda), Zachary Spurgeon and Kartson Ott. After graduating from Riley High School, Jim served in the United States Army and was stationed in France. Following his military service, Jim entered the tool and die trade and eventually became a partner with his close friend, Ron Scope, in JMS Tool & Die, a business he was involved in for thirty years. During his lifetime, Jim was involved with snowmobiling (South Bend Snowmobile Club), RV traveling (Gyspy Rovers), golf (Club 15), and traveling with his spouse and family. His most enjoyable times were the times he spent with extended family gatherings. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 1st, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 SR 933, South Bend, with Rev. Chris Rehagen C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, with Military Honors.
