Our beloved Shar - Sharlene Marie Kendall Csanyi - died on December 13, 2022, at the age of 80, following a brief illness in Austin, Texas, with her husband Dan and son Matt by her side. Sharlene was born to Sherwood and Ruth Kendall in Laporte, Indiana. Besides her beloved Dan and Matt, she left a bunch of us behind: Her adored grandchildren Elliott and Lydia, her sisters Mary and Marti, her brothers Chris, Jeff, and Mark, and many much-loved nieces and nephews and their children, and in-laws and friends. Shar loved her family above all else and knew how to make each of us feel deeply loved, and that love was unwavering, as was her passion for passing around every detail of news about the entire family. After us, she loved a bargain and knew how to find one, and she loved fine food and knew how to make it. She loved traveling and camping in the vast National Parks of the US and Canada. The Rockies were her favorites. Shar graduated from Laporte High School and received her B.A. at Marquette University. After that, her master's degree in social studies from Valparaiso University. She served as head of the Social Studies Department at Machebeuf High School in Denver, Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Daniel Csanyi. In 1976, after she and Dan married in Colorado, they moved to South Bend, Indiana. They both devoted the rest of their professional lives to the parishioners of St. Therese, The Little Flower Catholic Church. As an educator, she was simply wonderful - full of wit and witty stories - and she loved her students as family. Following her wishes, there will be no service, and her ashes will be spread in Colorado. She wants to send best wishes to those who loved her in La Porte, South Bend, Indiana, and Denver, Colorado. She is already deeply missed.
