Brother Thomas Frederick Moser, C.S.C., age 83, died on December 20, 2022 in Dujarié House at Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN. He was born the oldest of two children in Keokuk, IA on October 27, 1939, to Fred A. and Rosland (Mennel) Moser. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Peter High School both in Keokuk. He entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1959, making first profession of vows in 1960 and final profession in 1963. For the next eight years, he taught science classes at Holy Cross High School, River Grove, IL. From 1971-1975, he was appointed assistant novice master in Bennington, VT. Returning to Indiana in 1976, he was on the faculty of LeMans Academy in Rolling Prairie for three years. From 1979-1985, he was the director of Holy Cross Brothers Center, Notre Dame, IN, and in 1985, he was elected the Provincial Superior of the Midwest Province of Brothers, a position he held through 1994. In 1994, he went to Holy Cross Novitiate in Colorado Springs, CO for a one-year sabbatical, becoming a member of the staff from 1995-2010. Returning to Notre Dame in 2010, he worked on special projects at Columba Hall for two years, being elected its superior from 2012 until 2017. He continued to live at Columba Hall for three years, and in 2020, because of failing health, moved to Dujarié House in Holy Cross Village. He is proceeded in death by his parents, and is survived by his younger sister, Bonnie Jean Moser of Colorado Spring, CO and several cousins.Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2022, at St. Joseph Chapel, Holy Cross College from 10:00 to 11:00 am on the grounds of Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. The Mass of Resurrection will then follow with interment afterward in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at the Village. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
