Kenneth “Kenny” W. Minnotte, 61, of South Padre Island, TX passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on September 10, 2014. Born in Pittsburg, PA to William P. and Mary (Kunkel) Minnotte. Kenny called Pittsburgh PA, Deep Creek, MD, Carmel, CA, Aspen, CO and South Padre Island TX home throughout his life. Kenny was passionate about living life to his fullest potential. He graduated high school from Lawrenceville School, NJ, earned his B.S. from Brown University, and his Master of Metallurgical Engineering Boston University. Retiring at the age of 34 from the Minnotte Corporation, Kenny devoted his life to volunteering, traveling and teaching. He volunteered at Challenge Aspen for many years earning the nickname “Equipment Czar”. Upon moving to SPI, TX, Kenny became a certified kiteboarding instructor and earned his Captain license. Kenny leaves behind the love of his life Gretchen. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in July. He was a devoted and loving family man who loved his sons Todd (Brandi) and Adam (Sierra). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Madisun, Olivia and Caden.He is also survived by his sister Barbara (Ted) Frantz, brother David (Betty) Minnotte, sisters-in-law Tonda (Bob) Canfield, Susan (Ken) Haithcox, Deb (Rick) Peterson, and brother-in-law Gordon (Brittany) Weiles. He is also survived by 7 nephews, 10 nieces, 2 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces that he loved dearly. A special thank you to Susan Haithcox and Raul Rodriguez for all their help this past year. There will be a private memorial for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Colon Cancer Alliance, http://www.ccalliance.org , or to your favorite charity.
