Harold Devon Juday, 96, of South Bend, Indiana passed away into the arms of his Heavenly Father late Friday afternoon December 14, 2012 in his home. He was born February 10, 1916 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Russell and Goldie (Mishler) Juday. He resided in Goshen for approximately 18 years. He moved to South Bend where he started working at Bendix Corporation in 1934. He retired from Bendix Missile Plant in Mishawaka in 1974. On October 7, 1939 he married Alice Primrose at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, South Bend. Alice passed away on July 14, 1979 with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. He found love once again in the next few months and on January 5, 1980 married Ann (Cunningham) Morgan who survives. They would have celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary in a few weeks. Out of that union came eight children, 17 Grand Children and 19 Great-Grandchildren. Surviving with Ann are children, Karole L. Swanson (Richard) of Niles, MI, Karen L. Zollar (Jerry) of Lee’s Summit, MO and Pam Shields (Jack) of Granger, Kent D. Juday, (Helen) of Greensboro, NC, Robert F. Morgan, Jr. (Nina) of Spring Hill, FL and Richard W. Morgan (Anne) of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Pat Morgan of South Bend; son-in-law, Dan Tomkiewicz of Orlando, FL; and two brothers, Clyde Durr (Shonne) of Bristol, IN and Robert Juday of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Kay Tomkiewicz; son, James A. Morgan; and siblings, Maxine Kindig, Betty Troyer, and Ralph Juday. Harold was an extremely devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was also a devoted and loyal Chicago Cubs fan. He always knew all current stats of the team players and listened intently to every game win or lose. He played softball for the Bendix Softball Team for 22 years and coached men’s teams that played in the South Bend area leagues. He mentored many young men with long term relationships. He also coached Little League teams in Clay Township in the late 50's and 60's along with the Community Congregational Softball Team. Harold loved bowling, card games, working in the yard and gardening and watching Gold Finches. He enjoyed having a cottage on Corey Lake for many years. He loved to fish and taught his children and grandchildren how to bait a hook, remove the fish and how to clean them. He traveled to Florida for the winter months where he enjoyed walking on the ocean beaches. Harold was a member of Community Congregational Church and served as a Deacon, Trustee and participated in their Pastoral Ministry Visitation Group. He also attended a Tuesday Bible Study Group. He had a great concern for the poor and less fortunate. He loved life and family and always found a way to overcome adversity. He will leave big hole in the hearts of his family and friends. He would tell you he had a great long life. Family and friends may call Thursday December 20th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Funeral services will be held Friday December 21st at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Mullens from Community Congregational Church and Pastor Jack York from Faith United Methodist Church in Buchanan, Mi. officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions may be made to Community Congregational Church, Cleveland Road, South Bend.
