SOUTH BEND - Helen D. Kawka, 92, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014, in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on December 3, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Stephen and Hattie (Kalamaja) Lisek. On November 22, 1945, as Helen D. Lisek, she married Ted F. Kawka, who preceded her in death on December 29, 2008. Helen is survived by her daughters, Kathryn "Kathy" (Martin) Albright, Lucille (James) Jordan and Barbara (Dennis) Ziolkow-ski, all of South Bend; her son, Tim (Cindy) Kawka of Granger; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by four brothers, two as toddlers, and Ted and Steven Lisek. Helen was parishioner of St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church, where she was in the Apostleship of Prayer and the Altar and Rosary Society. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, December 26, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm Saturday at St. Stanislaus Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
