[N33987] Christine Gadacz
July 2, 1941 - December 19, 2022

Christine Jablonski, 81, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, following an illness. She was born on July 2, 1941 to the late Anthony and Rose (Fuzi) Gadacz in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Jablonski; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Zakrzewski. Christine graduated in 1959 From St. Joseph High School in South Bend. While at St. Joseph High School, she made life-long friends she cherished throughout her life. She retired in 2004 from AM General Corporate Office in South Bend, IN, where she worked as a Legal Secretary for many years. On April 23, 2005, as Christine Gray she married Donald Jablonski in South Bend, IN. Don passed away on October 30, 2011. Christine is survived by two daughters, Tammy (John) DeCloedt of Mishawaka, IN; Tracy Rodriguez of Granger, IN; two sons, Greg G. Gray of South Bend, IN; Mark Jablonski of Los Angeles, CA; two granddaughters, Amelia and Sara Rodriguez; one sister, Patricia Zakrzewski; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins. She loved to travel, first with her sister, Patricia; and then with Don, who was the love of her life. She read voraciously, was addicted to QVC home shopping network and enjoyed going to the casino. Christine was stubborn and always spoke her mind- no one never had to guess what she was thinking, but she had a softness about her too. Christine’s love of napping was legendary. Christine had a quiet strength that was evident during her life struggles. Her first challenge was a life changing diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis that eventually crippled her and made daily living a challenge; secondly, when her first marriage ended, she found herself both a father and mother to her children; and finally, as she fought the illnesses that slowly took over her body. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Pendle Home who treated her like their own family, as they cared for her in the last months of her life. They truly were a blessing. A rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2022, followed by visitation until 7:30 p.m. at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN 46628. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619, where friends and family may visit one hour before the funeral mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
