MISHAWAKA - Sylvia Zimmer, 81, of Ft. Myers, FL (formerly of Mishawaka, IN) died peacefully at the Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL at 1:16 PM on April 9, 2018. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Cora Jovanich; and her sister, V.J. Nyari (Ed), Sylvia is survived by her sisters, Ella Pullin (George) & Mary Moore (Bob); and her children, Kym, Bill (Amy), and Erikka. Baba (Grandma in Serbian) adored her grandchildren, Dan & Matt (Kym), Billy & Reagan (Erikka), Emily & Noah (Bill); and her great-grandchildren, Dylan & Kayli (Matt). She loved her nieces & nephews and cherished her friendships. Mom lived a full life with friends and family. She loved to play cards, cook delicious meals, and find shells on the beach. She never passed a garage sale without stopping and took pride in finding good deals. She was always ready for the next adventure, whether it be a day with one of the grandkids or searching for prehistoric shark teeth in the river. She loved nature and welcomed the manatees with excitement when they would visit her seawall, or when she found a newly discovered orchid. She loved her birds, particularly her parrot Chicken who lived with her for the past 30 years. She had a big heart and was always seeking to help those in need. She volunteered for The Cancer Alliance of Naples and was known to stay home on Thanksgiving to cook a large meal for her friends who had nowhere to go. Syl lived life to the fullest and did so in her way! There will be no funeral at her request. Friends and family will offer a Celebration of Life with a potluck dinner on Saturday, April 21 at her home in Ft. Myers, FL. If you would like to make a donation in Sylvia's honor, you may contribute to Hope Hospice. Checks may be mailed to Hope Hospice at 27200 Imperial Pkwy., Bonita Springs, FL 34135 or donations may be made online at www.hopehcs.org.
