SOUTH BEND - Raymond H. Unruh, 93, of South Bend, IN, passed away Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015, peacefully at his home. He was born on November 4, 1921, in Baroda, MI, to the late Fred and Tina (Zepter) Unruh. On August 9, 1947, in Hartford, MI, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy "Dottie" (Cong-don) Unruh, who preceded him in death on August 31, 2006. Mr. Unruh is survived by his daughter, Susan Sumrall of South Bend, IN; son, Gary (Connie) Unruh of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, David (Kate) Sumrall, Angela (Chris) Grabowski, Drew (Allie) Sumrall and Adam Sumrall; seven great-grandchildren. He was the youngest of nine siblings who preceded him in death. Mr. Unruh moved to South Bend in 1985 coming from Berrien Springs, MI. He was the owner/operator of Unruh's Barber Shop, retiring in 1985 after forty-eight years. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was a very active longtime member of Christian Center Church, where he served as a senior elder. He also served on many committees, bible study and prayer groups. Mr. Unruh was very involved in LeSEA Ministries. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Christian Center Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, IN. Pastor David Sumrall and Pastor Mark Lantz will officiate. Military graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday in the church. Contributions in memory of Raymond H. Unruh may be offered to Christian Center Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, IN 46614; or Hospice Foundation, in memory of his wife, Dottie Unruh, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
