SOUTH BEND - Richard Allen Kanczuzewski Sr., 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. He was the son of Stanley & Anne Kanczuzewski of Mishawaka, IN. His mother, Anne Kanczuzewski, preceded him in death on September 4, 2004. Richard is survived by his father, Stanley Kanczuzewski of Mishawaka; 2 sisters, Carol (John) Hess of Niles, MI, Mary Kanczuzewski of Mishawaka; his son, Richard Allen Kanczuzewski Jr. of South Bend; his grandchildren: Austin and Samantha; an aunt, several cousins nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; also his companion, Vicki Dutrieux, and best friend, Mike Frances. Richard graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966. He served his country aboard the USS American from 1967 to 1978; he was a Vietnam veteran. Richard was a post commander of the VFW Post 8748; he was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka, American Legion in Mishawaka, the Eagles in Mishawaka, PNA in South Bend, and Chain O Lakes Conservation Club. Richard loved fishing, scuba diving, car shows, corvettes and casinos. Last rites were administered by Father Daryl Rybicki of Corpus Christi Parish in South Bend, IN. A private military and graveside service will be held at 11:00 am at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, August 22, 2015. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the V.F.W Post 360, 1307 E. Jefferson, Mishawaka, IN. We love you Richard, your loving family and me. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be given to: the Center For Hospice Care, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
