John Knapik's age in his records varies. The year of birth shown above is an approximation.
In 1858 (sic?), in Poland, "Joannes Knaszek", 24, married Victoria Jezdzinski, "28?". (Poznan Marriage Indexing Project)
On May 22, 1880, "Jan Knapsik", 40, wife Victoria, 20, and child Antonia, 10, arrived at the port of New York on the vessel, "Silesia".
According to the 1900 census of South Bend, Indiana, John Knapik and his wife Victoria were both born in Austrian Poland, had been married 25 years, immigrated in 1880, and Victoria had had nine children of whom five were living, four at home: (in birth order) Stanislawa/Stella, Carol/Charles, Anna, and Mary. (Their daughter Antonia had married in 1893.)
John Knapik died June 27, 1903 in South Bend, and was interred in Cedar Grove Cemetery. (WPA, "Indiana, Index to Death Records"; and interment records of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana)
