OSCEOLA - Ernest Modos, 79, of Osceola, died Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was born in Himod, Hungary, on July 24, 1934, to Daniel & Anna (Kocsis) Modos. He graduated from high school in Himod and on May 18, 1957, he married Marie Toth in Austria. Ernest was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and was devoted to his family & friends. He enjoyed gardening & watching the animals, being outdoors, visiting with neighbors & tending the lawn. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Modos; his son-in-law, Scott Harman; sister, Irma Takacs; brother, Istvan Modos, and his infant brother, Kalman Modos. He is survived by his daughters, Maryann Harman and Kathleen (Gregory) Morris, both of Osceola; brother, Imre Modos of South Bend; grandchildren, Kyle Paris & Samantha Jazayeri, both of Osceola, Andee (Matt) Kettlebar of Westfield, Ashley Harman of South Bend and Shelby Harman of Mishawaka; and his great-grandchildren, Maddux & Addison Kettlebar. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd., where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. Calling also Wednesday, 4-8 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Entombment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorials are The Hospice Foundation or Masses.
