SOUTH BEND - Loretta A. Borowski, 95, of South Bend, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, in Brookdale/Sterling House. She was born October 2, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Casimer Pilarski and Helen Salata. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Richard Pilarski, and sister, Helen Zack. On July 5, 1941, she married Edward D. Borowski, who preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Kelley of Aurora, IL, Marilyn Hochstetler of South Bend and Mary Cain of Arvada, CO; six grandchildren, Chris Hickey (Cheryl) of South Bend, Marie Shelton (David) of Berrien Center, MI, Rebecca Kiser (Thomas) of Chicago, IL, Joseph Hickey of Chicago, IL, and Jason and Josh Cain of Arvada, CO; and five great-grandchildren, Jillian Wilson (Shelton), Zachary Shelton, Jenna Shelton, Bridget Hickey, and Adam Hickey; and three nieces and one nephew.Mrs. Borowski formerly worked at Metropolitan Life insurance until 1943. Her favorite pastimes were flower gardening, sewing, cooking, fishing, metal detecting, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Bridge and games with family. Loretta was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church since 1945 and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, Area Rosary Society, and NCCW and Padre Pio's Society. A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King at a later date. Her body was bequeathed to Indiana University School of Medicine.
