SOUTH BEND - Caroline S. Smorin, 84, passed away at 8:13pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 in her residence. Caroline was born on July 18, 1929 in South Bend to Steve and Lena (Hirschler) Boda. On August 29, 1953 in South Bend she married Kenneth Smorin. He died on November 10, 1973. Caroline was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Boda and Louis Boda. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (John) Vail of Orland Park, IL and Carol (James) Marshall; three sons, Michael (Rebecca) Smorin of Bremen, Andrew (Sharon) Smorin and Stephen (Dawn) Smorin, both of Granger; 8 grandchildren, Kenneth Marshall, Trisha Marshall, Joshua Marshall, Patrick Vail, Caroline Vail, Kristin Vail, Jon Smorin, and Brett Smorin; and two brothers, Steve Boda of Shawnee, KS, and Robert Boda of Madison, WI. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 2-6 Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th Floor, New York, NY 10010.
