SOUTH BEND - Services for Ruth Knapp Wise, 66, of 56297 Orchid Road, who died Thursday in Borgenhauser Hospital, Munich, Germany, after an illness, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Wise was a former substitute teacher for the South Bend Community School Corp. and an employee of the former Thrif-T-Mart for 20 years. She was born March 12, 1928, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.
On Jan. 17, 1948, in South Bend, she married Arthur Knapp. He died in 1977. In 1983, she married Devon Wise. He died in 1987. She is survived by four daughters, Karen Deis of Edwardsburg, Charlene Shuamber of Mishawaka, and Becky Donovan and Tammy Scott, both of South Bend; four sons, Thomas Knapp, William Knapp, Randal Knapp, and Ronald Knapp, all of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Burzynski of South Bend; and two brothers, Leonard Jozwiak and Jerry Jozwiak, both of South Bend. A daughter, Michelle Knapp, died Oct. 17, 1979.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, a retiree of Local 37 Club, was a former Portage Township precinct committee person, and a volunteer for St. Joseph's Medical Center
