SOUTH BEND - Sophie A. Plencner, 79, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, in Saint Joseph Care Center. Sophie was born on June 17, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Andrew and Lottie (Romanowski) Swizek Sr. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Matthew Swizek. On May 14, 1949, Sophie married Clem J. Plencner, who survives along with their two sons, Alan Plencner of South Bend and Gary (Denise) Plencner of Pleasant Prairie, WI; sisters, Gene Swizek and Wanda (Andy) Kazmierczak, both of South Bend; and a brother, Andrew (Evelyn) Swizek of South Bend. Sophie retired from RACO after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and will be remembered as a generous and loving wife and mother. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A funeral liturgy will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to St. Casimir Catholic Church.
