SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth Gerencser, 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10 AM July 7, 2012 at the Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 27, 1921 in South Bend, IN to Louis J. and Nancy (Dolgos) Horvath. In her early years she was formerly employed at Wilson Brothers and then became a devoted wife and mother. She always had a friendly smile for everyone she met. She cared for many family members and friends. She also was a Volunteer Guide at the Indiana Historical Museum. She was a lifelong resident of Greene Township and lived her entire life within a few miles of her homestead. Her many handwritten heartfelt cards and letters will be cherished forever and touched many lives. On July 19, 1941 in South Bend, at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, she married Alex J. Gerencser Sr., who passed away on June 14, 1984. Surviving are two daughters, Janet (David) Hankins and Judith (Darryl) Kroger both of South Bend, IN, a son, Alex J. Jr. (Pamela) also of South Bend, IN, one granddaughter, Melissa (Elmer) Goins of South Bend, and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Mary Csakany, three brothers, Frank, Louis and Carl Horvath, and a grandson, Daniel Kroger. Elizabeth was a member, Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent of the Sunday School. She also was a member of the Keenagers of Greene Township.
