SOUTH BEND - Joseph D. Chrzan, 83, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016. Joseph was born July 29, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Helen (Radecki) Chrzan. Joseph is also preceded in death by a sister, MaryAnn Chrzan. Joseph married Betty (Whitinger), his loving wife of 59 years, on May 18, 1957. She survives along with sons, Michael and James Chrzan; daughters, Laura Hertel and Lynn Urban; son-in-law Barry Urban; grandchildren, Adam Chrzan, Joseph Hertel, Jessica, Kristina and Anna Urban; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Blake Chrzan; brother, Daniel Chrzan; sisters, Delphine Dandino, Loretta Lininger; and brother-in-law, Jim; a large extended family; many friends and special buddies. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 - 1956. He retired in 1989 from the Bendix Corporation Aerospace Division after 39 years. Joseph always gave to others, working in “The Wood Shop” building products and toys for others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping make maple syrup, gardening, and spending time at the cottage with friends and family. Joseph loved his family and grandchildren with all his heart. He will be greatly missed. Visitation is 3-8 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, July 1, 2016, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
