Emery M. Horvath, Jr., 82 years old, peacefully passed away on October 27, 2022 surrounded by his family. Emery was born on October 07, 1940, in Mishawaka, to the late Emery and Martha (Lootens) Horvath. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert & Michael Horvath. Left to cherish the memory of Emery is his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce (Jaroszewski) Horvath; along with their children, Brian (Melissa) Horvath, Debra (Daniel) Russwurm, Dawn (Michael) Niezgodski, Jennifer (Christopher) Owsianowski, and Colleen Scarberry; grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Effertz, Brooke (Michael) Goddard, Heather (Brandon) Pratt, Brittany Scarberry, Brandon Niezgodski, Kelsey Niezgodski, Abigail Niezgodski, Katie Freestone, Bradley Freestone, Amanda Horvath, Cole Horvath, Brianna Horvath, Cody Owsianowski, Thomas Owsianowski, Daniel Russwurm, Jr., and Danielle (Chad) Keller; great-grandchildren, Tatym, Eli, Emerson, Lincoln, Elijah, Alyssa, and Ryan; and sister, Patricia Ellis. Emery was a lifelong local and a graduate of Riley High School. After graduation, Emery proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He then worked for AM General for 42 years before retiring. Emery loved working outside, landscaping his yard and peacefully sitting and admiring his lawn. He loved playing cards, playing his handheld poker game, traveling, going to the casinos - especially to Las Vegas, and talking about politics and his faith. He was a very colorful person who always spoke his mind. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00pm, all at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd., and again Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00am - 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 3, 2022 at 11:30am at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, 1050 Wilber St. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Donations in honor of Emery Horvath, Jr. may be made to out to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, 620 W Edison Rd Suite 122, Mishawaka, IN 46545, and St. Pius X Catholic Parish, 52553 N Fir Rd, Granger, IN 46530.
