Robert Charles Klein, Sr., “Coby”, age 68, of Mishawaka passed away on June 14, 2016 at 3:10 PM in South Bend Hospice House, South Bend, IN. He was born April 6, 1948 to Paul J. “Chic” and Anne (Puskac) Klein in Mishawaka, IN. After graduating high school, Robert enlisted in the Navy and served his country honorably. Mr. Klein was a lifetime area resident and retired from the St. Joseph County Police Department after 27 years of service. Robert attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN and was a member of the American Legion Post 308. He enjoyed fishing-especially the annual trip to Leech Lake, MN, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, coin collecting, all things Notre Dame, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. Robert never met a stranger and was known as the “wanderer” because he made friends everywhere he went. Robert is survived by his children, Dr. Rebecca Klein, PhD of North Carolina and Robert C. (Marcia) Klein II of North Liberty ; two grandchildren, Aden Klein and Ray Barnes II; his siblings, Paul J. (Sheila) Klein of Traverse City, MI, Phillip (Linda) Klein, David Klein, and Carolyn Henry all of Mishawaka; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10 AM at the funeral home with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Bend Hospice House, 11 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
