Robert M. Tomaszewski Sr., 78, of South Bend, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006, in Memorial Hospital. Robert was born on July 1, 1928, in South Bend, to Al and Henrietta (Deka) Tomaszewski, who have both preceded him in death. On May 24, 1952, Robert married Marianne (Kalmar) who survives along with their daughter, Deborah (Stephen) Smith of Granger; sons, Robert (Becky) Jr., William (Connie), James, Henry and Edward (Laurie), all of South Bend; grandchildren, Chrystal, Tommie, Pam, Shannan, Jenna, B.J., Joseph, Miah and Taran; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Al (Melveen) Jr. of Tucson, AZ; and a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Babe and Pal Hardig of Myrtle Beach, SC. He served in the Navy during World War II, and worked for the South Bend Police Department for 32©u years, retiring as a police detective. Robert was a parishioner at St. Adalbert Catholic Church and belonged to American Legion Post 357, F.O.P. #36, Anchor Conservation Club and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society.
