[N17675] Laura DeMeulenaere
Oct. 21, 1951 - Sept. 19, 2017
NILES - Laura (Huff) DeMeulenaere, 65, of Niles passed to her rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 after courageously battling cancer for over 32 years. On October 21, 1951 Laura was born to Bernard and Clara (Schaen) at Pawating Hospital in Niles, Michigan. Laura attended Brandywine High School for the majority of her high school years but graduated from Constantine High School. Shortly after graduating from high school she wed Mark DeMeulenaere on June 2, 1973 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles. An extraordinary woman, she will be fondly remembered for the way that she cared for others always. She enjoyed crafting and even had her own Etsy store. Her daughters, who were her proclaimed “Pride and Joy”, described her as an amazing woman. For over 16 years, Laura and her family have enjoyed their time in St. James City, Florida; the water was one of her favorite places to be. After retiring from Old Kent bank she had a bit more time to watch movies and especially spend time with her grandchildren, who brought a smile to her face every day and filled her heart with more happiness than she thought possible. Laura is preceded by her mother, Clara Huff. She is survived by her husband, Mark, her father, Bernard Huff of Jones, Michigan, her two daughters; Sarah (Brandon) Young of Edwardsburg and Michelle (Tim) Taylor of New Carlisle, Indiana. Laura will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren; Brynn Young, Cohen Young, Lizzy Taylor, and Kenzie Taylor, her siblings Ruth (Rick) Dunnuck of Greensboro, North Carolina, Bernadette (Tom) Calkins of Constantine, and Ralph (Cindy) Huff of North Branch, Michigan. Visitation for Laura will be Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home 11am - 1pm with the services beginning at 1pm with Pastor Alan Mock officiating. Donations made in Laura's memory can be made to Hope Lodge, 129 Jefferson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503 or The Vineyard Church, 16219 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
