Carol J. Byrd, 76, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 in Memorial Hospital. Carol was born May 20, 1939 in South Bend to the late Ben and Lucille (Wcisel) Strychalski.Survivors of Carol include her daughter, Loraine (Winx) Adams of South Bend; Aunt Rita (Guy) Stancati; 3 grandchildren; Amanda (Mike) Kobiernik, Amber (Terrance) Findley, John Smith; 5 step-grandchildren; Matthew, Amanda, Anita, Adrian, and Nathan Adams and numerous great-grandchildren. Carol was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Carol was an Administrative Assistant with Lumm Engineering for 20 years. She enjoyed traveling and going to the casino, but most of all she treasured her beloved pets. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Memorial hospital on the 7th floor for the care given to Carol. Visitation for Carol will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Service will be held for Carol immediately following visitation. A private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
