[N18458] Blanche L. Keltner
Feb. 18, 1928 - Jan. 5, 2018
SOUTH BEND - Blanche Lucille Keltner, 89, of South Bend, passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her home. She was born on February 18, 1928 in New Carlisle, the only child of Russell and Mable (Dover) Gans. On November 29ΒΈ, 1947 in South Bend, she married Ralph Dale Keltner, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1981. Blanche is survived by her four children, Allen L. (Sharri) Keltner of South Bend, Dale B. (Jude) Keltner of South Bend, Laura A. Conley of South Bend, and Yvonne M. Keltner of Mishawaka, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Blanche was a loving stay-at-home mom who derived great joy from helping others. In addition to raising her own brood, she provided much practical assistance with her grandchildren and was an outstanding role model for her entire family. She was also a devoted and compassionate daughter who cared for her parents in her own home in their later years. Blanche was educated at the St. Joseph Girls Academy. While raising her family, Blanche managed to find time to become an accomplished bowler. She also took pride in tending her vegetable garden and keeping an immaculate yard. A long-time parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, Blanche was a devout Catholic and lived a life of service to others. Her gentle, peaceful spirit blessed many. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend from 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place on Wednesday morning at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Blanche L. Keltner may be donated to Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 S. Miami Street, South Bend, IN 46613; or to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnette Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
