SOUTH BEND - Elsie Chevrie, 85, passed away at 1:27 a.m. Saturday in Hospice House. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Hudak of Mishawaka; three sons, Wayne T. (Barbara) Chevrie Jr., and Larry (Amy) Chevrie, both of South Bend, and Tim (Rita) Chevrie of Mishawka; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Lakovits of South Bend. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

SOUTH BEND - Elsie Chevrie, 85, passed away at 1:27 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Hospice House. She was born on August 2, 1921, in South Bend, to Nicholas and Mary (Vertichs) Nemeth. Mrs. Chevrie retired from Curtis Products in 1998. Elsie was a member of the former St. Anthony Society Ladies Auxiliary. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. She loved to bowl, play bingo and go to the boat. She also enjoyed QVC and the Food Network and collected dolls and cookbooks. On July 10, 1943, she married Wayne T. Chevrie Sr. He died on August 12, 1976. Elsie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Nemeth and Annie Sigsby and a brother Frank Nemeth. Surviving are a daughter Sharon Hudak of Mishawaka; three sons, Wayne T. (Barbara) Chevrie Jr.,and Larry (Amy) Chevrie, both of South Bend and Tim (Rita) Chevrie of Mishawka; 10 grandchildren, Craig Hudak, Lori Chevrie, Karla Chevrie, Nicholas (Danielle) Chevrie, Amy Chevrie, Wendy Chevrie, Brandy Chevrie, Tanya (Matt) Waldron, Jamie Chevrie, and Chris Chevrie; three great-grandchildren, Briauna, Nathan, and Terrence Jr.; and a sister, Josephine Lakovits of South Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
