Our Angel, Irene F. Janiszewski, 91, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 11:15 a.m. in Hospice House, has been taken home. Irene was born on May 29, 1915, in South Bend, to Joseph and Jenny (Traszkowski) Kasznia. On October 12, 1940, she married Gordon in South Bend. He has preceded her in death, along with her parents, sister, Helen Niespodziany, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Janiszewski. She is survived by two sons, Eugene Janiszewski, Dennis (Marge) Janiszewski, both of South Bend; a daughter, Anita (Ronald) Schroeder of South Bend; six grandchildren, Joni Flynn of Niles, Bruce Janiszewski, DeeNee Searfoss, Nicole Janiszewski, Zack Schroeder, and Cody Schroeder, all of South Bend; step-granddaughter, Dawn Meiars of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren, Timothy Flynn, Meagan Flynn, Lindsey Janiszewski, Blake Palicki, Jenna Kubiak, Tristan Kubiak, Tanner Janiszewski, and Grant Searfoss; a brother, Walter Kaznia; and two sisters, Evelyn Liszewski and Pearl Czarnecki. Irene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Golden Cluster, and the Farmerettes. After 20 years, she retired from Washington High School food service, and was a waitress for Sunny Italy for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, watching Notre Dame football games, and traveling around the world. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, from 3 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at 1 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.
