Alice M. Spromberg, 86, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her daughter?s home. Alice was born August 8, 1923, in South Bend to Joseph and Josephine (Buszkiewicz) Magdalinski. On February 7, 1942 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Alice married Albert A. Spromberg, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1990. Alice was employed with the University of Notre Dame in the 1960?s and then with Al Spromberg Plumbing which was the family business. Surviving is her daughter, Nancy (Gary) Sherwood of South Bend, Indiana; her son, Albert A. Spromberg, Jr. of Buchanan, Michigan; grandchildren, Frank (Claudia) Springer, Dean (Mary) Springer, Christopher (Jenny) Springer, Gary (Merryl) Sherwood, Craig Sherwood, Michael Sherwood, John (Denise) Sherwood; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Trevor, and Paige Springer, Kyle and Jacob Springer, Morgan and Olivia Springer, Nicole Marie, and John Albert Sherwood; a brother, Edward Magdalinski of South Bend, Indiana; and brothers-in-law, Frank Spromberg and William Szilagyi. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews and many close friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, a daughter, Mary Ellen Springer, on November 2, 1993, sisters, Helen Szilagyi and Virginia Olyniczak; and brothers, Stanley, Bert, and Joseph Magdalinski. Alice was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, Harvest House, and the Medjugorje prayer group. She enjoyed her birthday group of ladies, going out to dinner, shopping, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 2-8 p.m., at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 10 a.m., in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana with entombment to follow in Highland Cemetery.
