Lillian Watts, 86, residing in South Bend, passed away at 5:24a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013 in her home. She was born February 25, 1927 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, a daughter of Henry & Mary (Rother) Podjan, and has lived in South Bend since 1956 coming from Benton Harbor. On September 1, 1951 in Benton Harbor, Lillian was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Watts, Jr. They have enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. She is survived by her loving husband Robert J. Watts, Jr., her daughter, Susan (Mike) Barcus of Mechanicsburg, VA, her son, Patrick (Ann) Watts of Gastonia, NC, and six granddaughters, Andrea (Nickolas) McCrosky of Cramerton, NC; Vanessa (Justin) Thompson of Belmont, NC; Kristin (Nick) Fessick of Mechanicsburg, VA; Kathleen Watts of Gastonia, NC; Kira (Nick) Niesielowski of Gainesville, GA; and Stephanie Watts of Gastonia, NC; along with a great-granddaughter Ella Grace McCrosky. Lillian is also survived by her brother, Arthur Podjan of Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Charlene Lynn Watts, and twin sons, Donald Ralph Watts on October 24, 1972, and Daniel Robert Watts on July 8, 2004. Mrs. Watts retired in June 1985 from the Wheelhorse Corp. following seventeen years of service, and was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Rev. John Delaney will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass on Monday at the Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the Watts family with arrangements.
