Paul J. Waletzko Feb. 18, 1927 - Oct. 19, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Paul Joseph Waletzko, 87, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Healthwin Specialized Care. Paul was born February 18, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Louis and Josephine (Waletzko) Matchette. Paul is also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Waletzko and brother, Edward Matchette. On June 27, 1959 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Paul married his loving wife of 55 years, Loretta H. (Mackowiak) Waletzko; she survives along with their children, Teri Waletzko, Diane (Marc) Passero, Mary (Johnny) Lopez, and Anthony (Beth) Waletzko all of South Bend; brothers, Sidney (Phyllis) Matchette of Texas, Ronald Matchette of Texas, and Denny (Katy) Matchette of Christmas Valley, Oregon; grandchildren, Brittany (Nate), Steven, Cassie, Jamie (Tommy), Joseph Jr., Brian, Anthony, Christina (Shawn), Johnny Jr., April and Nicolas; and great-grandchildren, Kara, Kadince and Grace. Paul honorably served his country in the United States Navy, Merchant Marines and retired from the United States Coast Guard. He worked for Carlisle Nursing Home, and St. Mary's College. Paul was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion Post #357. He enjoyed going to the casinos, working on puzzles, playing card games, fishing, and watching Westerns. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to the staff at Healthwin Specialized Care for their kindness and support. Visitation for Paul will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 130 Red Coach Dr., Mishawaka, IN 46545. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
