Born 2 Mar 1910 in Chicago, he lived in the SBd area most of his life; died 16 Oct 1983, age 73 of 52710 Brooktrails Drive at 5:43 a.m. in St Joseph's Medical Center after a brief illness. A family & private practitioner, he retired in 1979 after 43 yrs. A 1934 gradyate of Notre Dame he graduated 1939 from Loyola U School of Medicine. Services in Chrsit the King Catholic Church, burial in St Joseph Cemetery. On 3 Oct 1942 in Chicago he married Elenor Pilawski who survives with two daughters: MrsMary Ellen Scandale of Skokie Ill and Mrs Sharon Welch of Hannibal MO; two sons, Dr Walter James [N CHGED] - and Bruce Anthony Filipek, both of So Bend, 8 grandchildren and a brother, Joseph Filipek of So Bend. A brother, Aloysius, preceded him in death.
