Frank A Pennino
On May 16, 2015, God sent his Angels to Chet Waggoner Little League for Frank A. Pennino, 81, of South Bend, IN - on the same day his grandson pitched a no-hitter. Frank was born on October 14, 1933 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Lewensky) Pennino in Chicago, IL, and has lived in South Bend since 1965. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Pennino in 1976. Frank began his career as a Meat Cutter in Chicago, IL, had a 20 year career as a Sales Representative for Oscar Mayer, and retired from the South Bend Water Works in 1999. On July 16, 1955, he married the former Karen Winder in Glen Ellyn, IL. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Karen Pennino of South Bend, IN; four children, Richard (fiancée Jill Herthoge) Pennino; Thomas (Caroline) Pennino of South Bend, IN; Anthony "Tony" (Elizabeth "Buffy") Pennino of South Bend, IN; and Catherine (fiancée Charles Huddlestun) Pennino of Elkhart, IN; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Cecilia, Madison, Isabella, and Frank; three step-grandchildren, Steven, Chloe, and Nico; one great step-granddaughter, Abriel; one sister, Carole Bahnick of Dunedin, FL; and one brother, Joseph Pennino of Dunedin, FL. Frank was a loving husband, devoted father, caring friend, and an avid baseball fan. For many years Frank was a baseball coach at both Northside Little League and the former Babe Ruth League in South Bend. It is through those years where he earned the nick name, "Ball Park Frank". Cremation will take place. Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home.
