Franklin Park Herald-Journal April 2, 2003:

Joseph Trybula, 84, of Schiller Park, died March 21 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Mr. Trybula was born April 7, 1918, in Battle Creek, Mich., but grew up from a very young age near Cracow, Poland. In the late 1930s, he returned to the United States to reside with an uncle in South Bend. He served during World War II as an infantryman with the Army's 132nd Infantry Division, fighting in the Pacific on Guadalcanal and throughout the Solomon Islands campaign. When he returned after the war he settled in Chicago. There he met Helen Sczupak. They were married in 1946. She preceded him in death in 1977. In 1955, he built a home in Schiller Park with the help of friends. He worked as a carpenter until retiring in 1980. Mr. Trybula is survived by his son, Peter (Denise, nee Toepke) of Granger, Ind.; grandchildren, Elizabeth of Harrisburg, Pa., and Austin and Gregory of Granger, Ind.; and Mildred Bulvan, his loving friend and companion for many years. Each of his survivors will remember a strong, hard-working man who enjoyed life, loved his family and friends and served his country and his Lord. Mr. Trybula was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Church in Schiller Park, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 26. Visitation was held March 25 in Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home and Crematorium, Franklin Park.
Interment was in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles. Memorials were suggested for the Muscular Dystrophy Association or St. Maria Goretti Church.
