SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth L. Megyese (Goepfrich), 91, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 in her home. Elizabeth was born January 16, 1923 in Plover, Wisconsin to the late John and Frances (Pliska) Flatoff. On June 23, 1943 Elizabeth married Albert Goepfrich; he passed away on May 23, 1978. She then married Julius Megyese and after nine years he passed away on May 17, 1987. Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Raymond; and a sister, Lorraine. Survivors of Elizabeth include her brothers and sisters, James (Darlene) Flatoff of South Bend, Lucy Deguch (Mike Vaszari) of South Bend, Louie (Diane) Flatoff of New Carlisle, Joan Napieralski of South Bend, Dorothy Tison of Phoenix, AZ., and Harriet I. Austin of Chipley, FL; twenty nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was employed with Studebakers and South Bend Toy where she retired in 1959. Elizabeth was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Matthew and a member of the Rosary Society. She was a member of the German Club, Eagles Club, American Legion Post #357, Harvest Club at St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr and the UAW Local #5. She enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, flowers, dancing, Bingo, and attending card parties. Visitation for Elizabeth is 9:30 am to 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Funeral Ceremony will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards, Hospice Foundation 501 Comfort Place Mishawaka, IN 46545. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
