THREE RIVERS - Kathryn Ann (Gresk) Peczkowski, 87, of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare in Three Rivers. Kathryn was born in South Bend on Sept. 16, 1924. While attending Central High School in South Bend, Kathryn was a member of the high school's marching band where she met the band's Drum Major, Bernie Peczkowski, who became her high school sweetheart. On July 7, 1945, the two were married. Bernie and Kathryn were inseparable until his death on March 31st of this year. Also preceding Kathryn in death were her parents, John and Caroline Gresk; two brothers, James and Marion; sister, Dorothy Arelt; and a granddaughter, Christiane Patnaude. Kathryn worked for many years in the Dept. of Human Resources at the University of Notre Dame. Her assignments included stints as secretary to the University's presidents, Fr. Theodore Hesburgh and Fr. Edward Malloy. She is survived by a daughter, Dianne Patnaude (Carola Cummings); grandchildren, Ray Patnaude III (Annie Tanger) & Courtney Patnaude; and two great-grandsons, Jasper and Monty Patnaude. There will be no funeral service. A memorial reception for both Kathryn and Bernie has been planned for a later date.
